I know I wrote about how thankful I am for Chuck on Day 2 for my thankful reflections, but I couldn't go another day without adding how thankful I am for Chuck's job. For those who don't really know the story of how we ended up where we did, here is the brief version of the story. Shortly before New Year's of this year, Chuck was encouraged by a former professor of ours to apply for the position of Director of Adult Studies Education and Assistant Professor at Trinity. My first response: "uh...I don't know about that..." After much prayerful consideration, we figured there would be no harm to at least apply and we could see if this was a new door being opened in our lives. By early February, Chuck had a phone interview. By mid-February he was on campus for an all-day interview, and by early March he was offered the job! By that point, we felt strangely confident that was where we were supposed to be. As much as I didn't want to leave all those we had come to love in Kalamazoo, we both felt an overwhelming sense if peace with our decision for Chuck to accept the position. We miss Kalamazoo, our friends, our former co-workers, and church, yet we are experiencing joy in our new surroundings as well. God's way, though often unexpected and scary, is always sure.
I am so thankful for Chuck's job, his hard work in a new work environment, his diligence when the newness is challenging, and his positive perspective on a new adventure. I am grateful!
