Today, I am grateful for Chuck. Despite the innumerable changes we have been going through lately, his love for me and Zoe has been constant. This new adventure has brought us closer - and it sure has been a wild ride. :)
Ever since Chuck found out he was offered the position as Director of Adult Studies Education at Trinity in March of this year, it has been an extreme whirlwind. We never expected we'd be leaving Kalamazoo this year, yet we are grateful for this new door that opened in our lives.
However, with any new thing in life, comes a lot of change. And with a lot of change, comes a lot of craziness at times.
Our life has been in a constant state of craziness since about March...
- Trying to sell a home in a horrible economic state
- Getting our house ready for showings at the drop of a hat with a busy, dirty 1-year-old and a shedding dog, while maintaining our day-to-day routines and obligations
- Chuck coaching his final year of track - many long nights away at track meets!
- Going on a week-long vacation in June to Disney World with my family - only 3 weeks before Chuck starting his job, though we still had not sold our home or found a place to live in Illinois
- Finding a small duplex to live in just 2 short weeks before Chuck's job began
- Dealing with crazy buyers for weeks in June/July only for them to walk away from the sale after Chuck already started his job in Illinois (don't get me started) :)
- Chuck commuting for 2-3 weeks each weekend from Illinois to Michigan
- Dealing with the worst moving company on the face of this planet at the end of July (again, don't get me started) :)
- Trying to fit an entire home's worth of items in a teeny-tiny duplex/apartment
- Living in a teeny/tiny duplex...with our 89-year-old landlord below us :)
- Unexpectedly finding a new, much larger rental home to move to right near Trinity
- Moving again - not even 3 months later - to an incredible home
- Finally starting to feel "settled" - but never slowing down!
Whew. It makes me tired just writing and reading through all of that. And that's the short version of things - believe me, as I stated above...don't get me started...unless you have a few days. ;)
Through it all, Chuck has been plugging along, being the wonderful husband, dad, son, employee, etc. that I have always known him to be. For him, I am grateful!
| Check out Zoe's "electrifying" hair! Can we say static? :) |
WOW! I had no idea you guys had been through all of that!!! YEs, that would be enough stress to strain a marriage!!! But I can see Chuck just being sweet Chuck through it all. I think teaching middle school probably prepared him for all that stress!!! :) Miss you guys!
